Member Restrictions
ROCKET will allow
a member to
restrict the hire/sale of products, ratings and categories at the
time of a transaction. This is useful when a parent allows their children to hire/purchase using their membership card, but
wishes to restrict/prevent them from hiring games, R rated movies
etc.
Overdue collection - it's paperless!
User-defined criteria are selected for the basis of the report. The report lists directly to screen; the operator selects which customers to contact and then records comments directly into the system. At all times the software is aware of tapes being returned, and it updates the list automatically. You are also notified which members have not yet been contacted.
The system will allow the operator to extend the rental of tapes while on the phone with a customer, and will also e-mail the customer details of their late movies if you can't contact them personally (assuming they have an e-mail address).
ROCKET
Multi-Store version - optional version
OWNERS and managers of multiple DVD/Video/Games rental and retail stores can now benefit from easier and time-saving management oversight, plus give greater convenience to their customers, with ROCKET’s new Multi-Store version.
Multi-Store allows two or more stores to be seamlessly linked on an ADSL wide area network. Owners with a new store close to their original ROCKET site can open with all members already joined, as well as having a ready-made product catalogue.
ROCKET Multi-Store keeps all information in the one database, so an owner or manager can enquire in real time on all aspects of stock and transactions across all stores on the network.
Members can join at any of the linked stores, and (if desired) return items and pay late fees at any of them. Member history and debts details are available at all linked sites, while hire items and stock “belong” to a particular store.
You can even use ROCKET’s Chasings module to call for overdue items from all stores, at the one time!
Stock availability is shown for each store separately, and you can enquire on what the “other stores” have available in retail or rental items. Stock transfers are a breeze, and stock can be receipted at once for all stores.
ROCKET Multi-Store allows an owner to report on all aspects of the business on both a store-by-store basis and across all stores. This is invaluable when reporting on stock on hand and what needs to be re-ordered, or what needs to be marked down.
ROCKET Multi-Store operates in conjunction with the base ROCKET program.

ROCKET architecture
In designing the architecture of ROCKET, great care has been taken to ensure that the software is easily capable of expansion and of handling specific requirements of individual users.
For this reason, Microsoft SQL Server was chosen as the database engine, to take advantage of its robustness and flexibility in WAN and LAN environments.
Using the same client software/version of ROCKET, the program can be installed to run against either:
- MSDE on a single machine or small local network
- SQL Server 2000 or above for a larger local network
- SQL Server 2000 or above remotely via TCPIP
It can be re-configured at any time.
ROCKET has been designed specifically to handle the integration of databases from multiple sites/stores. Each store has its own unique store identifier to enable the database to be merged on a central server.
This enables you to have multiple stores all running against a single product master list and member list, while maintaining separate stock, transaction and reporting information for individual stores.
Servers could be situated in each region, with the data replicated at desired intervals back to a central SQL server at head office. The head office could maintain the product master file, maintain the area/region-wide marketing and promotional campaigns, as well as running all security check and reports.
Security passwords and operator setup could be handled at the regional level, and the regional server would also carry out full tracking of operators' usage and activities.
Each region would need one server (maybe two), with each store set up to run against that server; only this regional server would need to have SQL installed, while each individual site would need only MSDE or above (and a copy of ROCKET).
Having the database on the regional server prevents local security breaches, as the database cannot be opened manually at a local level.
It means that the software can be tailored for each area's specific requirements, allowing only certain queries inside ROCKET to be run locally.
OTHER WAN CONNECTIONS
The data could be kept locally at each store, with required information extracted back to the regional or world wide head office on a regular basis. The data could also be automatically "pushed" back from any client store to a central database.
